Branding

National Gallery Singapore, Singapore (2014)

We took a bold approach towards the creation of the logo for National Gallery Singapore. Located in central Singapore, the contemporary museum is to be housed in two of Singapore’s historically most iconic buildings: the former Supreme Court and City Hall. By distilling the architecture of the buildings into two simple blocks, this identity takes on a simplistic expression that is open to imagination. Reflecting our belief that “Art should be a two-way conversation”, these two graphically arresting blocks encourage interpretation in every imaginable way ― 2 building blocks, 2 dialogue boxes, 2 platforms, 2 spaces...

The brand identity reflects the museum’s dynamism and confidence in its vision. What was created was simplicity; not just in terms of execution but also in distilling complex messages into a single important vision.
